The FCA Quality organization is currently seeking a highly skilled, solutions oriented, Building Maintenance Mechanic to join the Quality team at the Proving Grounds in Chelsea, Michigan.

The specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform preventive maintenance activities on industrial equipment such as cleaning, lubricating, inspecting, replacing worn parts or adjusting as needed
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems installations, repairs, adjustments or improvements as needed
  • General metal fabrication skills
  • Able to use mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, calipers, micrometers, die grinders, acetylene cutting torch, Arc/MIG/TIG welding, etc.
  • Repair/reroute electrical branch circuits for existing equipment for repairs or improvements/upgrades with the ability to size and install the breakers, wire, conduit, j-boxes and switch gear/disconnects as needed
  • Able to read electrical schematics and use same in general electrical and network troubleshooting for industrial automation and control
  • Strong problem solving skills, initiative and able to plan work activities effectively
  • Maintain clean and organized work area
  • Work requires the ability to lift moderately heavy equipment and materials (50lbs), and stand for extended periods of time
  • Walking, climbing ladders and entering cramped or difficult to reach locations may be part of daily activities
  • Use of man lift to access equipment for installations, maintenance, repairs or adjustments
  • Operate and maintain HVAC equipment including air handlers, supply and exhaust fans and chillers

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, work some overtime, including daily, weekend and holidays
  • Eight (8) years of documented experience or a U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate as an Electrician, Carpenter, Millwright, HVAC Technician or Sheet Metal Mechanic
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications
  • Experience supporting operations to locate and diagnose trouble in systems or equipment
  • Experience in replacing broken or defective parts in equipment or machines, electrical equipment and tooling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in PLC (programmable logic controller) programing and troubleshooting
  • Experience with industrial controls, sub-stations, motor control centers, power distribution panels, electrical starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude including knowledge and troubleshooting experience with pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Strong computer skills

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
