Unit Coordinator - Inpatient Behavioral Health

Our Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit is a 24 bed unit that provides 24/7 care on an inpatient basis.
Position Summary: The Unit Secretary Coordinator coordinates and identifies secretarial needs and functions and provides leadership for other Unit Secretaries. This position is responsible for coordinating the schedule for the secretarial staff and for a variety of activities involving clerical support to patients and staff in the unit.
This is a Full Time Day Shift position.
Qualifications: Minimum of high school education with recent unit secretary experience preferred. Must be proficient and knowledgeable in computer programs, with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Practices effective communication in all interactions (patient, visitor, co-worker, etc.)
Takes a leadership role in resolving problems to improve unit functioning.
Processes physician orders accurately and efficiently
Communicates to all unit secretaries with updates in processes and policies by email and keeping the communication manual up to date.
Processes patient admissions, transfers and discharges
Charts are copied and appropriate information is provided for patient transfers
Enters charges accurately and within the time frame parameters of the hospital.
Maintains unit specific logs/manuals
Other Functions and Responsibilities
1) Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure
1) Minimum of high school education
2) Recent unit secretary experience preferred
3) Medical terminology preferred
4) College Degree Preferred
Required Skills and Abilities
1) Skilled in computer programs
2) Excellent interpersonal skills

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
