Registration, scheduling, insurance and benefit verification, obtaining insurance authorizations for outpatient neuro rehabilitation services; therapy appointment scheduling for 24 bed rehab unit; therapy appointment scheduling for acute care orthopedic and medical unit; revenue reconciliation Position
Summary:
The rehabilitation scheduler/registrar colleague is responsible for greeting patients, obtaining a proper physician order, scheduling, and registering patients for rehab services.
Responsible to obtain proper identification and insurance information from each patient, and ensure the patients understand their insurance benefit for therapy on their first visit.
Responsible for day-to-day operations of the therapy offices, including identification of issues that need the attention of other members of the team.
Maintain excellent records and file systems.
Assist with general needs of staff.
The rehab services scheduler/registrar also assists in obtaining appropriate information for Inpatient Rehab Unit admissions; communicates with various physicians, nursing, and utilization review staff to ensure a smooth admission.
Essential Functions and
Responsibilities:
Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships.

Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participates in their resolution.
Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to Chelsea Hospital.
Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
Maintains knowledge to perform the duties of the job.
Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
Obtaining legal prescription/order for rehabilitation services from patient, or physician office.
When appropriate, also obtains office notes.
Scheduling of patient appointments.
Gathers accurate insurance information for verification.
Efficient and thorough registration of each patient to ensure proper billing.
Gathers data for process improvement.
Demonstrates accurate and timely communication with all colleagues and dept leadership.
Assists co-workers in completion of daily duties.
Verifies insurance eligibility, benefits and obtains insurance authorizations as appropriate.
May need to coordinate with advanced registration department and/or billing department.
Reviews insurance benefits with patients upon registration process.
Receives co-pays from patients and completes required documentation of payment.
Provides a receipt to patient if requested.
Will check-in appointments within the EMR.
Will monitor and work reports as defined by dept leadership.
Demonstrates self-directed learning.

Demonstrates unit/area competencies to specific clerical tasks.

Efficiently navigate between several software programs and patient and staff interaction.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
